Opuntia also known as prickly pear or tuna fruit are from the family of flowering cactus, its major characteristics include it being edible. These are native to north and south America. Prickly pears can be further categorized based on their physical and chemical properties. Varying from shrubs to entire trees these cacti are famous and recognizable through their flower and fruit, a red berry, that grows over a wide flat circular pad called cladodes. These fruits are enjoyed by the native animals and birds and humans alike. Mostly found in Mexico and the Mediterranean regions. These are rich in nutrients and used in various types of foods, utilized as vegan leather, animal fodder, biofuel, and bioplastic, and in folk medicine for their Phytochemical properties.
Lastly, the Persimmon also known as the kaki fruit has a large variety of species that come from different trees produced in different areas. With so many species and varieties in their properties, not all of these have been explored. The most common has a tomato-like appearance with a leathery exterior and a soft brown interior. Different species are used for different purposes ranging from making tea to vinegar. It is full of nutrients and phytochemicals and is utilized in ripe and unripe forms.
